The Solomon Islands form a chain some 1450 kms long, lying to the southeast of the Bismarck Archipelago and New Guinea and about 1900 kms to the east of Queensland.  The archipelago is made up of a double chain of 993 scattered islands, atolls and cays.  This area boasts a total of 277 native species in 85 genera.  These consist of Dendrobium, Bulbophyllum, Agrostophyllum, Appendicula, Diplocaulobium, Eria and Malaxis to name just some.  The book contains 95 colour photos in 16 plates and has 80 full page line drawings.
