227 colour photographs, 107 b&w figures covering 200 different species as well as many descriptive drawings.  This book brings to the man in the street some of the answers to questions such as What is an orchid?;  How does it fit into the Plant Kingdom? How do we grow them? etc.  It is not a scientific document, but presents the facts as simply as possible, mostly using drawings to illustrate them.  The colour photographs of numerous species brings them to life in an orderly manner by subfamilies.  Culture is by their distribution, climate, habitat, temperature range and general requirements.
